ראש הממשלה בנימין נתניהו הגיב בחריפות לדברי ראש עיריית ניו יורק, אריק אדמס, שכינה אותו "פושע מלחמה" ו"אדריכל של רצח העם המחריד של הפלסטינים". נתניהו תקף את אדמס ואמר: "תתבייש לך, על התמיכה במפלצת הטרור של חמאס, שטבחו בבני עמנו. תתבייש לך על ההסתה למהומות נגד יהודי ניו יורק". עוד הוסיף נתניהו כי הוא מתכוון להגיע לאו"ם כדי "לומר את האמת על חיילינו הגיבורים, ואני מגיע לחשוף את האמת עליך".
