מרת צפורה פריזנד, אלמנתו של המשגיח המיתולוגי של ישיבת באיאן, רבי נח פריזנד זצ"ל, נפטרה בשיבה טובה בגיל 86, סמוך ליום כיפור. פריזנד, שנולדה בירושלים לאביה רבי עמרם בלוי זצ"ל, מראשי אגודת ישראל, נישאה לרבי נח פריזנד, שכיהן כמשגיח בישיבת 'תפארת ישראל' באיאן למעלה מיובל שנים. היא נודעה בצדקותה, בצניעותה ובאמונתה בחכמים, וביתה ברחוב הבעש"ט בשכונת בית ישראל היה פתוח לרווחה למעשי חסד. היא הותירה אחריה דור ישרים מבורך, הכולל ארבעה בנים המכהנים כראשי ישיבות וכוללים בירושלים: רבי אשר, רבי נפתלי, רבי ישראל ורבי ישעיה מרדכי פריזנד. מסע הלווייתה יצא ביום ראשון בבוקר מבית הלוויות שמגר בירושלים להר המנוחות. המשפחה יושבת שבעה בביתה ברחוב הבעש"ט 35, שעות ספורות עד לכניסת יום כיפור.
