Widow of Renowned Cantor Yaakov Tzvi Arbelich Laid to Rest in Safed Near Tanna's Tomb

Chaya Shindel Arbelich, widow of the well-known cantor and philanthropist Rabbi Yaakov Tzvi Arbelich, was buried on Friday at the Safed cemetery near the tomb of the Tanna Rabbi Pinchas ben Yair. She passed away recently and was the daughter of Rabbi Mordechai Hanig and Sprinza Leah, and granddaughter of Rabbi Shmuel Gafner. Throughout her life, she lived in Jerusalem, Monsey in the United States, and Ramat Beit Shemesh, and was recognized as a modest, important, and God-fearing woman who supported her husband in acts of kindness and helping others.

Her late husband, Rabbi Yaakov Tzvi Arbelich, who died in July 2020, was a descendant of Rabbi Moshe Leib of Sassov and was renowned for his melodious cantorial voice in Monsey, Los Angeles, and Beit Shemesh. He was also noted for his extensive charitable work, founding the organization "Simchanu" to assist lone soldiers, families, and the sick. The funeral took place on Friday at noon, coinciding with the Sabbath portion Re'eh, and she was laid to rest beside her husband. The community expressed the traditional blessing, "May her soul be bound in the bond of life."
