דובר צה"ל הודיע על חיסולם של שני מחבלים בכירים בארגון הטרור חמאס, רפאת אבו זמר וחמד חדר פהמי עגור, במהלך פעילות צבאית ברצועת עזה. אבו זמר, שהוגדר כמפקד פלוגה במטה המבצעים של הזרוע הצבאית, היה אחראי על הובלת אימוני מחבלים לפני מתקפת השבעה באוקטובר וגם בתקופה הנוכחית. הוא חוסל בתקיפה באזור חאן יונס.

בפעולה נפרדת בעיר עזה, חוסל עגור, שהיה פעיל בזרוע הצבאית והיה מעורב בייצור אמצעי לחימה. התקיפות מהוות חלק מהמאמצים המתמשכים של צה"ל למיטוט יכולותיו הצבאיות של חמאס ברצועה.
