Border Police Find Protected Wildlife Held Illegally Near Tulkarm
In a joint operation, Border Police (Magav) forces, the Central Magav District special police unit, and Israel Nature and Parks Authority inspectors discovered four protected wild animals being held illegally in the village of Shuwaika, near Tulkarm. The animals included two gazelles and two badgers.
The operation, part of an ongoing investigation dubbed "Returning to Nature" by the Central Magav District, targeted suspected illegal possession of protected wildlife. During the raid on a compound in Shuwaika, officers found the animals.
A suspect, a Tulkarm resident in his 60s, was arrested at the scene and taken for further questioning by the Central Magav District police. Nature and Parks Authority inspectors sedated, captured, and transferred the animals for ongoing care.
The investigation aims to address suspicions of illegal holding of protected wild animals.
