Police Seize Protected Deer and Badgers Held Illegally Near Tulkarm
Border Police officers and Israel Nature and Parks Authority inspectors raided a compound in the village of Shuweika, near Tulkarm, on Tuesday, as part of an investigation into the illegal possession of protected wildlife. During the search, two gazelles and two badgers were discovered being held in violation of the law.
The animals were transferred to the care of the Nature and Parks Authority. A Tulkarm resident in his 60s was arrested and taken for questioning.
The operation targeted the illegal holding of protected wild animals, a practice that carries significant penalties under Israeli law. The Nature and Parks Authority regularly conducts enforcement actions against such activities to protect endangered species.
