Eyal Golasa Returns to Roots as Football School Director

Former Israeli international footballer Eyal Golasa has been appointed as the director of the football school at Beitar Tubruk, the club where he began his career. The announcement comes approximately two weeks after Golasa, 32, declared his retirement from professional football following a decorated career.

Golasa expressed his excitement about returning to his alma mater, stating, "I came here as a small child with a dream, I went through a long and exciting journey. The time has come to return home, I have returned to Tubruk." Beitar Tubruk hailed the appointment as a significant step for the club's future, calling Golasa "one of the club's most successful alumni with a glorious international career" and a "classic Tubruk success story."

Golasa's career included stints with Maccabi Haifa, where he won two league titles and played in the Champions League group stage. He later moved to Greece to play for PAOK Thessaloniki, appearing in the Europa League. He then became a key player for Maccabi Tel Aviv, winning three league titles, a State Cup, and three Toto Cups. Throughout his career, Golasa was noted for his leadership, professionalism, and high-level experience.

He began his youth career at Beitar Tubruk before joining Maccabi Haifa in 2008. He debuted in the Israeli Premier League before the age of 17 and was considered one of Israel's greatest talents. A potential move to Lazio in 2010 did not materialize due to a dispute with Maccabi Haifa. For Maccabi Haifa, he scored 19 goals and provided 7 assists in 171 appearances. Between 2014 and 2016, he played for PAOK.

Returning to Israel in 2016, Golasa signed with Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he played 225 games, scoring 13 goals and assisting 24 times. His final club was Maccabi Petah Tikva, where he played during the 2024/2025 season. In addition to his league titles, Golasa won the State Cup in 2021 with Maccabi Tel Aviv and two Super Cups. He also earned 17 caps for the Israeli national team.
