Rescued Child Reunites With First Responders After Bus Accident

Paramedics from the Hatzalah emergency medical service met with a young boy they rescued from under a bus in a moving reunion at Sheba Medical Center in Tel HaShomer. The accident occurred earlier this week on Rabbi Kahane Street in Bnei Brak, when the boy, riding his bicycle, was struck by a bus and trapped beneath it.

First responders, including Hatzalah chairman Oshi Shlomoivitz, intensive care nurse Shmuel Ragoznitzky, and Yossi Rotenstein, arrived at the scene and quickly extricated the unconscious child, who had sustained multiple systemic injuries. They provided immediate medical treatment and transported him to the hospital within approximately 10 minutes, a critical timeframe in trauma care known as the "golden 10 minutes."

At Sheba Medical Center, medical teams were prepared and continued life-saving treatment. The reunion marked a significant moment for the rescuers, transitioning from the initial emergency at the scene to seeing the child on the path to full recovery.

The boy's father expressed profound gratitude to the Hatzalah volunteers, stating their swift and professional actions were crucial to saving his son's life. He described the volunteers as "angels who watch over the city." Shlomoivitz echoed the sentiment, calling the reunion an indescribable feeling and emphasizing the critical importance of their rapid response in saving the child's life, highlighting the true meaning of their work.
