Boy Trapped Under Bus in Bnei Brak Meets Rescuers After Recovery

A few days after a serious accident on Kohenman Street in Bnei Brak, where a 5-year-old boy was hit by a bus and trapped underneath it, an emotional reunion took place at Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer. The boy and his family met with volunteers from the "Hatzalah" emergency organization who provided initial rescue and medical care at the scene. Present at the meeting were Hatzalah chairman Ushi Shlomovitz, who is also a pediatric intensive care nurse at Laniado Hospital, paramedics Shmuel Regoznitzky and Yossi Rotenstein, among the first responders at the accident, and other volunteers involved in the rescue and treatment.

The accident occurred while the boy was riding his bicycle and was struck by the bus, resulting in him being unconscious and suffering multiple traumatic injuries. The volunteers immediately began rescue efforts and first aid. The boy was evacuated to Sheba Hospital within approximately 10 minutes in critical condition. The organization emphasized the crucial importance of minimizing the time between injury and hospital arrival in trauma cases. Following rapid on-site treatment and transport, Sheba's medical teams continued care, and the boy's condition has since improved, with him now on the path to recovery.

For the volunteers, the hospital meeting was a meaningful closure after first encountering the boy during the traumatic event. The boy's father expressed deep gratitude, stating, "Thanks to the speed and professionalism of the volunteers, I got my son back. Hatzalah volunteers are angels who protect the city." Ushi Shlomovitz remarked, "Seeing him today after what we went through at the scene is hard to describe. In moments like that, every second counts. We rescued him, provided initial treatment, and evacuated him to Sheba within minutes. This meeting shows us the true meaning of our work."
