Pharmacist Arrested for Allegedly Selling IDF Soldiers' Medications on Black Market
A 44-year-old pharmacist from Herzliya, Victoria Motola, was arrested on Monday on suspicion of selling medications intended for Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers on the black market. Motola allegedly exploited her position as the head pharmacist at the Gilo military base pharmacy since 2023, using her access to the drug supply and her authority to sell medications for cash to dozens of individuals.
A review of the pharmacy's inventory revealed shortages valued at over 60,000 shekels. Investigators are examining Motola's bank accounts and phone communications as part of the probe. While three other individuals, including another pharmacist, a doctor, and a medic, were questioned under caution, Motola is the sole suspect arrested. Her detention has been extended until Thursday.
Motola's attorney, Dror Shalom, stated that his client is a professional pharmacist who performs her duties faithfully and is surprised by the accusations. He expressed confidence that the investigation would ultimately be closed against her.
