Man Charged with Murdering Lawyer Over Disputed Insurance Claim in Central Israel

The Israeli State Prosecution filed a serious indictment against Ahmad Alragoub, a 24-year-old from Ramla, accusing him of murdering lawyer Arbel Feldman. The killing allegedly stemmed from Alragoub's dissatisfaction with the pace of handling his civil lawsuit, seeking about 18,000 shekels in damages related to a car accident. According to the indictment submitted to the Central District Court in Lod by prosecutor Sarah Tal, Alragoub shot Feldman six times at close range inside the lawyer's office in Rishon Lezion on August 4, 2026. The shots struck Feldman's upper body, head, and hand, causing his immediate death.

The indictment further charges Alragoub with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, destruction of evidence, and obstruction of justice. Prosecutors state that prior to the murder, Alragoub armed himself with a semi-automatic pistol and a loaded magazine, concealed under his clothing. After the shooting, he fled the scene, discarded his phone and weapon during the escape to hinder the investigation, but surrendered to police in Ashdod about two hours later. He confessed to killing Feldman for financial reasons.

In the detention request, prosecutor Tal emphasized Alragoub's ruthless behavior and disregard for the law, highlighting the gravity of attacking a lawyer performing his duties as a client’s representative. She described the murder as a severe violation harming the victim, his family, and the public interest in protecting legal professionals from violence. The prosecution requested that Alragoub remain in custody throughout the legal proceedings.
