Police Extend Detention of Suspect in Lawyer Arbel Feldman's Murder Over Financial Dispute

The detention of Ahmad Alragoub, suspected of murdering lawyer Arbel Feldman in his office in Rishon Lezion, has been extended by nine days. Police told the court the murder stemmed from a financial dispute over approximately 15,000 shekels. According to investigators, Alragoub arrived at Feldman's office "with a clear purpose," shot him, and fled to Ashdod before being apprehended. Since his initial detention, authorities have conducted around 50 investigative actions, including witness interviews and evidence collection, which have strengthened the case against him.

During the hearing, police clarified that Alragoub has no prior criminal convictions but was investigated in 2024 for possession of a knuckle duster or knife and drug-related offenses. The defense raised concerns about his mental health and requested a psychiatric evaluation. The judge ordered a mental health examination to address any potential risks, noting previous assessments did not justify psychiatric hospitalization. Alragoub remains in solitary confinement at Nitzan Prison under heightened supervision.

The prosecution sought a 15-day extension of his detention, but the judge granted only a partial extension until the following Monday. The case highlights the serious nature of the crime and ongoing efforts to fully investigate the motives and circumstances surrounding the murder.
