Suspect in Lawyer Arbel Feldman Murder to Reenact Crime Scene Amid Strengthened Case

The investigation into the murder of lawyer Arbel Feldman in Rishon Lezion is advancing, with the main suspect, 32-year-old Ahmad Alargob, expected to be brought to the crime scene for a reenactment in the coming days. Since his detention was last extended, police have conducted around 50 investigative actions, including witness testimonies, camera footage collection, and forensic work, which have strengthened suspicions against him. Authorities believe the motive, planning, and execution of the crime are becoming clearer, centering on a financial dispute over a relatively small sum of 15,000 shekels.

Alargob is currently held in isolation under strict supervision in Section 6 of Nitzan Prison, in a cell nicknamed "the spaceship." His defense attorney, Oren Sasson, claims Alargob suffers from severe mental health issues and is unfit to stand trial, citing his three-year isolation from society and a prior failed Border Police recruitment attempt. However, police maintain he has been evaluated and found fit for questioning. The court ordered a psychiatric examination within 24 hours to assess his condition and detention circumstances.

During a hearing on August 13, Judge Oshrit Huber Heyman partially granted the police request to extend Alargob's detention by nine days, until August 24, rather than the full 15 days sought. The judge noted that Alargob has not been interrogated since the last extension 12 days ago, and emphasized the need to hear his response to the charges during the new detention period.

The murder occurred on August 4 at Feldman's office, where Alargob allegedly arrived with intent, shot Feldman at close range, and fled. He later surrendered at the Ashdod police station, reportedly telling officers, "I need help, I shot him." Alargob has no prior convictions but was previously questioned in 2024 for possession of a knuckle duster or knife and drug-related offenses. The police continue to await forensic and technological evidence to complete the investigation, with the reenactment at the crime scene considered a key upcoming step.
