Man Charged with Murder of Lawyer Over 18,000 Shekel Lawsuit Dispute in Central Israel
The Israeli prosecution filed a murder indictment on Wednesday against 23-year-old Ahmad Alrajoub from Ramla for the intentional killing of lawyer Arbel Feldman, citing aggravated circumstances and financial motives. Feldman had represented Alrajoub in civil proceedings against an insurance company following a car accident, involving a claim of approximately 18,000 shekels. Dissatisfied with the progress of the claim, Alrajoub decided to kill Feldman.
At the beginning of the month, Alrajoub arrived at Feldman's office in Rishon Lezion carrying a concealed semi-automatic pistol loaded with a magazine. He shot Feldman six times at close range in the upper body, head, and hand, resulting in Feldman's immediate death. After the shooting, Alrajoub fled the scene, discarded his phone and the weapon to obstruct the investigation, and later surrendered to police about two hours afterward. Although he promised to reveal the gun's location, he has since refused to cooperate, likely due to the weapon's involvement in other crimes.
Prior to the shooting, Feldman and Alrajoub briefly met, during which a brief exchange occurred before the gunfire. David Makonen, a fellow lawyer present during the incident, described the event on Kan News, noting the day began normally with casual conversation. He recounted that Alrajoub appeared calm and unmasked, seemingly intent on killing Feldman without hesitation.
The indictment also includes charges against Alrajoub for illegal possession of a weapon and ammunition, evidence destruction, and obstruction of justice. The case highlights the dangers lawyers may face in contentious financial disputes and the challenges law enforcement encounters when suspects attempt to conceal evidence.
