Israeli-American Player Ajayi Jones Likely to Join Warriors on Two-Way Contract

Ajayi Jones, the American-Israeli basketball player, is not expected to be part of the Golden State Warriors' final roster for the upcoming NBA season. Although Jones, who was selected 54th in the recent NBA draft, will not be among the 15 official players on the team, he is likely to play in the NBA under a two-way contract. This arrangement means he will primarily play for the Warriors' development team but can be called up to the NBA squad as needed.

During the recent NBA Summer League, Jones averaged 7.0 points per game, shooting 41% from the field and 25% from three-point range, along with 3.4 rebounds per game. His path to the NBA has been somewhat unconventional. He began at Tarleton State Texans as a bench player, then moved to a community college before playing at St. Bonaventure, coached by former NBA reporter Adrian Wojnarowski. There, he averaged 10.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.

Jones then transferred to Florida State, a larger program, where he demonstrated notable athleticism but struggled with three-point shooting, hitting 32.5%. He posted averages of 12.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 1 block per game. Despite not making the Warriors' main roster, Jones' two-way contract keeps his NBA prospects alive for the season ahead.
