Premature Baby Dies 42 Days After Mother Killed in Car Crash in Ashdod

A premature baby girl named Hadar Cohen passed away at Assuta Ashdod Hospital 42 days after her mother, Tzofia Cohen, was killed in a severe car accident. Hadar was born at 30 weeks gestation via emergency cesarean section following the crash that claimed her mother's life. Since her birth, Hadar was hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit, where medical staff provided complex and dedicated treatment to save her life.

The hospital announced Hadar's death with deep sorrow, expressing condolences to the family during this difficult time. Emergency medical technician Israel Meir Gayan from Magen David Adom’s motorcycle unit described the accident as a head-on collision between two vehicles. Tzofia Cohen, approximately 30 years old, was found unconscious with multiple injuries. Four other individuals involved sustained minor injuries and were treated and transported to the hospital.

The tragic incident highlights the critical efforts of medical teams in neonatal care and emergency response, though ultimately the newborn could not survive the aftermath of the accident that took her mother's life.
