Israeli Police Block Palestinian Authority-Linked Event in Jerusalem's Old City

The Jerusalem District Central Unit of the Israeli police thwarted a planned event associated with the Palestinian Authority in Jerusalem's Old City. The event was scheduled for yesterday but was found to be illegal following intelligence operations by the unit. The intelligence gathered was presented to senior officials including Police Commissioner Major General Dany Levi, Jerusalem District Commander Commissioner Avshalom Feld, and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. Subsequently, Ben-Gvir signed an order prohibiting the event. Police officers arrived at the venue alongside the David Area police and found preparations underway with several people present. They informed attendees of the ban and prevented the event from taking place.

The police emphasized their ongoing efforts to strengthen sovereignty and governance in Jerusalem, particularly in East Jerusalem. Their operations include intelligence gathering, disrupting terror infrastructures, and preventing unauthorized events linked to the Palestinian Authority. Authorities view such events as potentially inciting and disruptive to the social fabric of the city's residents.
