Israeli Police Prevent Palestinian Authority-Linked Conference in Jerusalem's Old City

The Central Unit of the Jerusalem District police thwarted a planned conference associated with the Palestinian Authority in Jerusalem's Old City. The event was scheduled to take place yesterday but was stopped due to its violation of Israeli law. Intelligence operations by the Jerusalem District's YAMAR unit uncovered preparations for the event, prompting police officers from YAMAR and the David precinct to arrive at the site and inform attendees of a legal order prohibiting the gathering.

The intelligence findings were reviewed and approved by Police Commissioner Major General Danni Levi, Jerusalem District Commander Commissioner Avshalom Feld, and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. Following their approval, Minister Ben-Gvir signed the order banning the event. Police emphasized that the Jerusalem District continues to actively prevent conferences and events linked to the Palestinian Authority that contravene Israeli law, alongside ongoing intelligence and enforcement activities in East Jerusalem and the Old City area.
