Jerusalem Faction Plans Road Blockades in Central Israel Protesting Yeshiva Student Arrests

Following the arrest of yeshiva student Yisrael Gohfi from the Kfar Hasidim yeshiva in Haifa for draft evasion, protesters from the Jerusalem Faction are organizing a demonstration in central Israel today at 5 p.m. The protest is expected to include road blockades on Highway 4 and other central area roads. Gohfi was detained yesterday while en route to the northern hills due to an issue with his public transit card and was handed over to the military police. This incident follows the recent arrest of Mordechai (Moti) Mishkovsky, a student at Netivot Yitzhak yeshiva in Tel Aviv and grandson of Rabbi Nathan Zuckovsky, head of Gaon Yaakov yeshiva and a member of the Yated Neeman rabbis committee. Mishkovsky was stopped near Beit She'an and also transferred to military police custody. About two weeks ago, Jerusalem Faction protesters blocked Highway 4 for approximately three hours in response to a yeshiva student's arrest, indicating ongoing tensions surrounding draft enforcement in these communities.
