Swimming Banned at Haifa Beaches Due to Sea Water Contamination

The Interior Ministry announced on Monday that swimming is prohibited at all Haifa beaches until further notice following the detection of contamination in the sea water. This decision came after the Health Ministry issued a bathing warning due to abnormal microbial test results in the sea water near Haifa and Kiryat Haim. Authorities continue to monitor water quality closely, but no timeline has been provided for additional testing or lifting the ban.

The Interior Ministry reminded the public that even after the ban is lifted, swimming should only take place at designated beaches during lifeguard hours. This is not the first recent incident of water quality issues in Haifa; in July, five beaches including Student Beach, Dado Beach, Zamir Beach, and Bat Galim Beach were closed due to similar contamination findings. Subsequent water samples were taken to assess the situation further.
