Health Ministry Orders Immediate Closure of All Haifa Beaches Over Water Quality Concerns

Amid the peak summer season, Israel's Ministry of Health has ordered the immediate closure of all beaches in Haifa and Kiryat Yam due to irregular water quality test results. The ministry has not yet clarified the cause of the contamination. The public is urged to avoid entering the sea until further notice.

The Haifa municipality stated that repeat water sampling will be conducted during the day, and decisions regarding the continuation or lifting of the swimming ban will be based on these new results and health guidelines. Residents are advised to comply with the instructions and await official updates.

This closure follows a similar swimming warning issued about two weeks ago for Haifa beaches, including Carmel Beach and Student Beach, after abnormal microbial findings were detected. That previous warning was lifted after one day but has now been reinstated due to the current situation.
