Shas Party Condemns Judge Solberg for Removing Campaign Video Citing Bias

The chairman of Israel's Central Elections Committee, Judge Solberg, ordered the removal of a Shas party election campaign video due to the depiction of a character resembling a soldier. Shas strongly opposed the decision, accusing Judge Solberg of quickly yielding to left-wing parties, specifically led by Eisenkot, and unfairly targeting their campaign despite the video lacking any official military symbols. The party alleged discrimination, claiming that similar propaganda from left-wing parties criticizing Shas on military conscription issues is routinely ignored, while Shas's truthful messaging is immediately censored. They described the legal actions against right-wing, traditional, and religious groups as unsurprising persecution. Despite what they called a biased ruling, Shas affirmed that the removal of the video would not diminish the support from hundreds of thousands of families backing the party.
