Israel and Turkey Hold Secret Talks to Prevent Military Clashes in Syria

Israel is conducting secret negotiations with Turkey to avoid military confrontations in Syria, according to a report on Kan News. A security official emphasized that Israel does not wish to turn Turkey into an enemy but warned that if diplomatic messages fail, Israel will take necessary action. The talks follow Israel's red lines against Turkish military entrenchment in Syria, particularly the deployment of air defense systems, drones, and missiles that could threaten the Israeli Air Force's freedom of operation.

Israeli security sources informed the United States that Turkey was preparing to deploy radar and defense systems operated by its troops at the Al-Dohour airbase, located about 70 kilometers from the Turkish border. This move could have altered the regional balance of power. In response, the Israel Defense Forces struck buildings and runways at the airbase to prevent the transfer of such equipment before its arrival.

Israel has communicated to the Syrian regime that it does not oppose the rebuilding of the Syrian army but will not allow new threats near its border. Meanwhile, Turkey denied any military presence at the base, stating that no Turkish military delegation was there before or during the Israeli strikes.
