Grandmother Miri Peretz Shares Emotional Message as Granddaughter Marries Without Her Fallen Father
Hallel Miri Peretz, granddaughter of Miri Peretz and daughter of the late Eliraz Peretz, is getting married today. Ahead of the wedding ceremony, Miri Peretz posted an emotional message on Facebook expressing her mixed feelings of joy and sorrow. She wrote that while her heart aches deeply from the pain of loss, it also swells with happiness as Hallel walks down the aisle.
Miri noted that Hallel is accompanied by her mother, Shlomit, instead of her father, Eliraz, who was killed in combat in Gaza when Hallel was only five years old. She imagined Eliraz watching from heaven, possibly shedding tears of both pain and joy as he sees his daughter, who resembles him closely, building a family and a home in Israel.
Miri recalled that Eliraz named his daughter after her, saying with pride and love, "After you, Mom." She described Hallel as a girl who grew and blossomed despite her father's absence, always surrounded by his spirit. Miri emphasized that the day is filled with mixed emotions, tears of longing and loss, but even more tears of joy, hope, and continuity. She concluded by blessing Hallel and her fiancé Oz, wishing them a home full of light, love, and happiness, and said that Eliraz blesses them from heaven while the family embraces them from here.
