Arab Parties Near Official Announcement of Election Alliance Amid Negotiations

After last week's apparent collapse of talks, the Arab parties Hadash, Ta'al, and Balad are close to announcing a new electoral alliance, potentially as soon as this coming Saturday, according to Kan News. The negotiations had stalled due to Ta'al chairman and Knesset member Ahmad Tibi's opposition to the proposed list arrangement. However, progress was made recently when Hadash leader Yousef Jabareen met with former Ta'al MK Osama Saadi, reaching near-final understandings on a new framework. The resolution involves roles beyond list placements, with Ta'al expected to receive key positions including Deputy Speaker of the Knesset, a seat on the Finance Committee, and the faction chairmanship. Ta'al will convene its institutions tomorrow to discuss Hadash and Balad's updated proposal, followed by an internal vote on Friday. Barring last-minute changes, the three parties plan to officially announce their union on Saturday. Meanwhile, Ra'am, led by Mansour Abbas, will not join the alliance, opting to run independently with a more moderate platform to preserve post-election coalition options.
