Jerusalem Terrorist Sentenced for Attempted Murder of Elderly Woman Nearly Two Years Later
Nabil Shaabani was convicted of a terror-related attempted murder after attacking a 74-year-old woman in Jerusalem nearly two years ago. On December 19, 2024, motivated by ideological nationalism and despair over his personal and regional circumstances, Shaabani planned to carry out a stabbing attack near the Jerusalem light rail station. After completing repair work at the victim's home, he strangled her until she appeared lifeless, stole her jewelry and 7,800 shekels in cash, and left the apartment. Realizing he had forgotten his walking stick, he returned and found the woman still alive. He then strangled her again and stabbed her three times in the neck and chest with the intent to kill. The victim suffered severe injuries including head trauma, internal bleeding, a punctured lung, and a broken rib, requiring surgery under general anesthesia. Shaabani sold the stolen jewelry in Ramallah. The court sentenced him following his conviction for terrorism and attempted murder charges.
