Jerusalem Man Sentenced to 22.5 Years for Attempted Murder of Elderly Woman
The Jerusalem District Court sentenced Nabil Shaabani, 62, to 22 and a half years in prison for attempting to murder a 74-year-old woman from Jerusalem. Shaabani, who had known the victim for years through work he performed at her home, was convicted of an attempted murder motivated by nationalist reasons and theft. According to the indictment, prior to the attack, Shaabani had planned an attack near the city's light rail area. Instead, he went to the woman's home to complete a repair and decided to kill her. He strangled her for several minutes, stabbed her in the neck and chest, and stole money and jewelry from her.
