Israeli Police Remove Yoav Eliasi from Volunteer Commander Role Amid Corruption Probe

Yoav Eliasi, known as "HaTzel," has been dismissed from his position as commander of the volunteer readiness unit in the Tel Aviv police district. The decision followed an investigation by the Police Internal Investigations Department (Mahash) into allegations of breach of trust and aiding a club owned by Eliasi and his partner. Eliasi attended questioning alongside his lawyer as part of the probe focusing on his involvement with the club.

The police acted swiftly after the investigation, deciding to remove Eliasi from his role based on findings from the Tel Aviv district's review, even before the full conclusion of Mahash's inquiry. Alongside Eliasi, three other officers were investigated; all four were released under restrictive conditions. The three officers were barred from police facilities for three days, while Eliasi faced a one-week ban. Additional testimonies were collected from other individuals involved.

This move reflects the police's adherence to standard procedures in handling internal investigations and maintaining integrity within their ranks. The case remains under further examination by Mahash.
