Maccabi Tel Aviv's Henry Edu Set to Join Portuguese Club on Loan

Maccabi Tel Aviv is preparing to free up a foreign player slot as winger Henry Edu is scheduled to fly to Portugal tomorrow. Edu will join Tondela, a club competing in Portugal's second division, on a season-long loan deal that includes a purchase option. Since returning from a loan spell at OFK Belgrade in Serbia, Edu has been training separately from the Maccabi Tel Aviv squad after being informed he is not part of the club's future plans. The Ghanaian winger, who arrived at Maccabi from Žilina as a promising young talent, struggled to meet expectations. In his first full season (2024/25) with Maccabi, he made 28 appearances and scored three goals, including two in the Europa League qualifiers against Bačka Topola. This move will allow Maccabi Tel Aviv to open a foreign player spot and potentially strengthen their squad further.
