Man Assaults Woman, Steals 6,000 Shekels, Then Goes Shopping in Central Israel

A 29-year-old man from central Israel was arrested after allegedly assaulting a young woman in her Bat Yam apartment and stealing approximately 6,000 shekels. The incident occurred early Friday morning around 2:30 AM on Haviva Reik Street. According to police, the suspect physically attacked the woman, threatened her, and took the money before fleeing the scene. The victim received medical treatment at the location.

Bat Yam police launched an investigation using technological means and tracked down the suspect in Kiryat Ono later that day. Upon arrest, authorities found about 4,000 shekels in cash believed to be stolen from the victim, as well as receipts for clothing purchases totaling around 2,000 shekels. The suspect was also found in possession of a motorcycle suspected to be stolen and burglary tools.

The suspect was taken for questioning at the Bat Yam police station. On Saturday night, a Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court extended his detention until August 18, 2026. The police continue to investigate the case, which involves assault, theft, and possession of stolen property.
