Israeli Home Front Command Assists Colombia After Devastating Earthquake

An Israeli delegation led by the Home Front Command, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, arrived in Colombia on Friday to aid in the aftermath of a recent earthquake. The Israeli Embassy in Colombia, headed by Ambassador Alon Lavi, prepared in advance to provide diplomatic and administrative support to the team. Upon arrival, the delegation began working alongside local authorities and experts at multiple destruction sites.

The team is active at two major damage locations, assisting in search and rescue operations with many local volunteers. At the university hospital in the city, which was damaged by the earthquake, Home Front Command engineers are collaborating with local professionals on a complex engineering effort to advise and guide the removal of debris. Their goal is to facilitate the rescue of trapped individuals and restore the affected hospital wing for use.

Simultaneously, the delegation is mapping and assessing damaged buildings in coordination with local authorities to help establish a clear situation overview and prioritize ongoing response efforts. Additionally, the Israeli team is aiding local officials in developing a data management system to improve situational awareness and decision-making.

The IDF spokesperson stated that the Israeli delegation will continue its field operations, offering Israeli expertise and capabilities to assist Colombian authorities in saving lives and managing the earthquake's consequences.
