Israeli Police Reveal How Mally and Liel Yehulomi Faked Their Whereabouts During Disappearance

Israeli police conducted an extensive week-long investigation to trace the disappearance of Mally and Liel Yehulomi, who were eventually found in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Authorities revealed that the sisters likely planned their disappearance in advance and deliberately misled the police about their location. A senior police official stated that early in the investigation it became clear the event was premeditated. Around 300 investigators and intelligence personnel from Lahav 433 and the Intelligence Division worked around the clock to reconstruct their route. Police Chief Danny Levi ordered command posts to be set up in several countries worldwide.

According to suspicions, the sisters first landed in the Czech Republic, where phones can be purchased without passport identification, then traveled to Vienna, Austria, from where they could continue to other countries. Their phone was last active near Vienna’s local train station. A key detail uncovered was that videos sent to their family were likely filmed in Vienna but sent after they had already left, aiming to create the false impression they were still there. Mally’s brother, Ronen Yehulomi, told ynet that the last video was received on Friday, and by Sunday the family lost contact.

The investigation tracked their movements until they were located in Argentina, where they were believed to be en route to another undisclosed destination. The police learned the sisters had devised an escape plan related to personal financial issues. After being found, they were questioned and released without suspicion of criminal activity. A police source confirmed the sisters left voluntarily and that their safety was verified before release. The successful location was credited to extensive intelligence cooperation within Israel and internationally, including Europol and other police agencies, which ultimately led to their discovery in Argentina.
