Bus Driver Collapses While Driving, Crashes Into Car Near Pele-Yam Junction

A bus driver in his 50s collapsed and lost consciousness while driving on Road 651 near the Pele-Yam junction on Thursday evening, likely due to a medical condition. As a result, the bus collided with a private car. Emergency medical teams arrived at the scene at 20:42 and found the driver unconscious, without pulse or breathing. They extracted him from the driver's seat and performed advanced resuscitation efforts, including chest compressions, ventilation, and eight electric shocks using a defibrillator. The driver was then rushed to Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in critical condition.

The female driver of the private car involved in the collision sustained minor injuries and was also evacuated by medical teams. Paramedics checked the bus passengers but found no injuries, so no additional hospitalizations were necessary. Medics Jonathan Yankelvich, Yosef Friedman, and Elimelech Michalovich reported that they were fighting to save the bus driver's life during the resuscitation efforts.
