Bus Driver Collapses While Driving Near Or Akiva, Crashes Into Car, in Critical Condition

A bus driver, approximately 50 years old, collapsed and lost consciousness while driving near Or Akiva on Road 651, close to the Pal Yam junction. The driver, apparently due to a medical condition, crashed into a private vehicle. Emergency medical teams from Magen David Adom (MDA) arrived at the scene, found the driver unconscious and without pulse or breathing, and immediately began advanced resuscitation efforts including chest compressions, ventilation, and eight electric shocks with a defibrillator. The driver was evacuated to Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in critical condition while resuscitation continued.

The driver of the private car was treated at the scene and taken to the hospital in light condition. No injuries were reported among the bus passengers, who appeared frightened but unharmed. MDA paramedics Yonatan Yankelvich, Yosef Friedman, and Elimelech Michalovitch described the scene, noting the driver’s critical state and their ongoing efforts to save his life. They also conducted a thorough check of all passengers and the car driver, confirming no other serious injuries.

The incident remains under investigation, with medical causes suspected for the driver’s collapse. Authorities continue to monitor the driver’s condition at the hospital and assess the circumstances of the crash.
