Bus Driver Collapses During Drive, Crashes Near Pele-Yam Junction in Critical Condition

A bus driver, approximately 50 years old, collapsed and lost consciousness while driving on Road 651 near the Pele-Yam junction on Thursday. As a result, the bus collided with a private vehicle. Emergency medical teams from Magen David Adom (MDA) arrived at the scene and found the driver unconscious in the bus cabin. They extracted him and performed advanced resuscitation efforts, including chest compressions, ventilation, and eight electric shocks using a defibrillator. The driver was evacuated to Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in critical condition while the medical team continued life-saving measures.

The female driver of the private car sustained minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital. Other passengers on the bus were unharmed and did not require medical treatment or hospitalization. MDA paramedics Jonathan Yankelvich, Yosef Friedman, and Elimelech Michalovitz reported the incident and described the urgent medical response to save the bus driver’s life.
