Israeli Election Committee and Police Coordinate to Secure Upcoming Knesset Vote

Ahead of the 26th Knesset elections, a coordination meeting was held on Thursday between the Central Elections Committee leadership and the Israel Police command to prepare for potential threats. The meeting included Central Elections Committee Chair Judge Noam Solberg, Acting CEO Attorney Din Livna, and Police Commissioner Major General Danni Levi. They reviewed operational, intelligence, and technological responses to challenges such as cyber threats, foreign influence via artificial intelligence, and ensuring full accessibility to polling stations.

The discussion focused on countering the misuse of advanced AI tools to manipulate public opinion, monitoring social media threats, protecting the digital and cyber environment, maintaining public order, and preventing attempts to undermine the democratic process. Both bodies emphasized strict enforcement against anyone attempting to disrupt election day, while prioritizing safe and free access for all eligible voters. Zero tolerance policies will be applied to violence, obstruction, or intimidation at polling sites.

Judge Solberg stressed that "the purity of elections is a cornerstone of the democratic regime, and its protection is a shared responsibility of all bodies overseeing the process." He highlighted new challenges posed by digital threats and advanced technologies, underscoring the importance of close cooperation with the police and relevant agencies to ensure a free, fair, and secure election.

Attorney Livna added that election preparations begin well before voting day and must address a wide range of scenarios and threats. He reiterated the commitment to guaranteeing every citizen's right to vote freely and safely, with zero tolerance for any attempts to block or intimidate voters. He praised the strong collaboration between the Elections Committee and the police under Commissioner Levi’s leadership.

Commissioner Levi concluded by reaffirming the police’s firm stance: anyone attempting to harm election integrity or disrupt voting will face determined police action to protect democracy.
