Israeli Police Chief Warns of Strong Response to Election Interference Attempts

Ahead of Israel's 26th Knesset elections, Central Elections Committee Chairman Judge Noam Solberg and Acting CEO Dean Livneh met with Police Commissioner Major General Danny Levi to coordinate election preparations. The meeting focused on ensuring election integrity, addressing threats to the voting process, and countering cyber and technological interference, including the use of artificial intelligence to influence voters.

The police outlined their readiness to maintain public order and prevent disruptions on election day, emphasizing efforts to stop road blockages, voter intimidation, and any attempts to prevent eligible voters from casting ballots. Discussions also covered monitoring online threats, intelligence, and cybersecurity measures.

Judge Solberg highlighted the new challenges posed by digital threats and advanced technologies, stressing the importance of cooperation between the Elections Committee, police, and relevant agencies to guarantee free, fair, and secure elections. Commissioner Levi issued a stern warning that anyone attempting to undermine election integrity or disrupt voting will face a determined police response aimed at protecting democracy.

Senior officials from the Elections Committee and police, including Investigation and Intelligence Division Chief Commissioner Boaz Balat and Legal Division Chief Commissioner Eiran Nahon, also participated, focusing on operational, intelligence, and legal preparations for the elections.
