Israeli Election Committee and Law Enforcement Discuss Strengthening Election Law Enforcement Ahead of 26th Knesset Vote

Ahead of the 26th Knesset elections, the Central Election Committee leadership held a special working meeting with top law enforcement officials to discuss enforcing election laws. The meeting took place on Sunday and included Central Election Committee Chair Judge Noam Solberg, State Attorney Amit Isman, and Government Legal Advisor Gali Baharav-Miara. They focused on enhancing enforcement against criminal offenses related to elections, preventing road blockages on voting day to ensure voter access to polling stations, and addressing improper influence on voters.

The meeting was part of a series of preparatory discussions involving the Election Committee and agencies responsible for managing election day and law enforcement. Additional participants included the Election Committee’s legal advisors and representatives from the Ministry of Justice and the State Prosecution. The officials agreed to continue close cooperation to uphold election integrity, which they described as a supreme national effort.

Judge Solberg emphasized the committee’s readiness to meet election challenges and highlighted law enforcement as a key element in ensuring a fair process. Baharav-Miara confirmed that law enforcement bodies would work collaboratively with the Election Committee, while Isman stated that the prosecution would act alongside the police to investigate any suspected election offenses. This coordinated approach aims to safeguard the transparency and legality of the upcoming elections scheduled for 2026.
