Israeli Forces Evacuate Controversial Outpost Near Palestinian Homes in Khosara After International Backlash

Israeli security forces arrived overnight between Wednesday and Thursday to evacuate an unauthorized outpost established near Palestinian homes in Khosara, located in the West Bank's Samaria region. The outpost had caused several Palestinian residents to be trapped for four days, sparking international outrage due to the prolonged delay in its removal. The situation drew sharp condemnation from the United States, with U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Herzog labeling the settlers who established the outpost as "Israeli terrorists" and calling for their removal.

According to activist Elisha Yard, Israeli Border Police and Civil Administration inspectors raided three settlement points in Binyamin and Samaria, destroying structures and confiscating items including blankets, mattresses, and electrical appliances. Despite these actions, Abd al-Azim Wadi, head of the Khosara council, stated that the outpost had not yet been fully evacuated, though large military forces were present both in the village and on the nearby hill. The Civil Administration indicated that the extremist settlers would likely be removed completely soon and requested residents avoid unnecessary vehicle movement within the village.

The White House and U.S. government officials expressed outrage over the incident, demanding clarifications from Israel. One of the trapped homes is owned by an American citizen residing in Ohio, who reported previous violent attacks on his family by settlers and has reached out to the U.S. Congress regarding the matter. Ambassador Herzog emphasized that the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem was actively involved in the events, stating that the Israeli military and police acted at their request to remove the "Israeli terrorists". He condemned the acts against the Palestinian family as criminal and intimidating, underscoring that there is no justification for such bullying behavior.

Herzog, a strong supporter of Israel who has repeatedly affirmed that Judea and Samaria are integral parts of the State of Israel, acknowledged the political damage the Khosara affair has caused Israel internationally and in the U.S. Many observers question how Israeli security forces allowed the illegal outpost to remain near Palestinian homes for so long before taking action.
