Anthropic Negotiates $6 Billion Acquisition of Israeli AI Startup Decart AI

Anthropic, a leading artificial intelligence company known for developing the chatbot Claude, is reportedly in advanced talks to acquire the Israeli startup Decart AI for approximately $6 billion. Founded in 2023 by Israeli engineers Dr. Dean Lightersdorf, Orian Lightersdorf, and Moshe Shalev, Decart AI has quickly gained global recognition for its AI infrastructure and optimization technologies, including real-time video processing capabilities. Their innovations include the 'Lucy' model for live video editing and the 'Oasis' model for creating simulated environments used in robotics and autonomous driving training.

This potential acquisition would mark the largest purchase in Anthropic's history and one of the most significant tech deals in Israel in recent years. The timing is critical as Anthropic prepares for a public offering and seeks to expand its computing power. Decart AI's technology enhances chip efficiency, potentially lowering AI training costs and helping Anthropic meet growing demand for its services. If completed, Decart's engineering team is expected to join Anthropic's HPC and performance division, responsible for real-time model efficiency.

Decart AI has already attracted major industry investors, raising $300 million in May with participation from Nvidia, Sequoia, and Benchmark.
