Maccabi Tel Aviv to Earn $5 Million from Sayed Abu-Farha's Transfer to Colorado Rapids

Maccabi Tel Aviv has finalized the transfer of forward Sayed Abu-Farha to the Colorado Rapids, with the Israeli club set to receive $4.95 million from the deal. Abu-Farha, who is expected to sign his contract with the American club immediately after Maccabi's Europa League qualifying match against CSKA Sofia, agreed to a four-year contract with an additional one-year option. In the first two years, he will earn approximately $400,000 annually, with salary increases planned for later seasons. An additional $1.05 million due to Abu-Farha from the Rapids will be paid separately at a later stage. Unlike a previous transfer involving Dor Turgeman, this deal does not include performance bonuses or incentives.

Ahead of the Europa League qualifier's second leg, Maccabi Tel Aviv is optimistic about overturning a 3-0 deficit from the first match in Batumi. Coach Robbie Miller acknowledged the challenge but stressed the team's belief in their ability to advance. He highlighted the need to reduce errors and capitalize on scoring opportunities, referencing a recent five-goal away win against Sheriff as evidence of the squad's offensive quality.

Additionally, Maccabi is negotiating the future of Roy Revivo, whose father recently spoke with the club's Belgian sporting director. The club demands 15% of any future transfer fee and is seeking to waive a €450,000 payment owed to the Revivo family amid interest from Spanish club Elche, which has offered €3 million. The transfer window in Spain closes in about two and a half weeks, prompting ongoing discussions. Dutch player Tyrese Asante, who is also attracting interest mainly from Italy, is expected to start in the upcoming match.

Maccabi Tel Aviv's management and players remain focused on the Europa League qualifiers, aiming to reach the playoff round against OFI Crete. If eliminated, they would likely drop to the Conference League playoffs, potentially facing Lugano.
