Maccabi Tel Aviv Striker Sayed Abu Farhi Signs with Colorado Rapids in MLS
Maccabi Tel Aviv will face Lugano tomorrow in the Conference League second leg in Batumi without striker Sayed Abu Farhi. Abu Farhi flew to the United States this morning to officially sign with the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer (MLS), as first reported by ynet. He becomes the eighth Israeli player to join MLS, following players like Thai Baribo and Liel Abada. Abu Farhi is expected to sign a five-year contract with Colorado, initially earning $450,000 per season with a salary increase after two years. Maccabi Tel Aviv, the Israeli State Cup holders, will receive $5.4 million from the transfer. The club had demanded that Abu Farhi, who held a clause entitling him to 17.5 percent of the transfer fee, waive $500,000 as a condition for his release.
