Maccabi Tel Aviv's Said Abu Farhi Set to Sign with Colorado Rapids Next Week

Maccabi Tel Aviv will face CSKA Sofia tomorrow in what is expected to be Said Abu Farhi's final match with the club. The game, scheduled for Thursday at 21:00 and broadcast on Sport1, precedes the team's trip to Bulgaria for the Europa League third qualifying round second leg. Although Abu Farhi will travel with the squad, it is uncertain if coach Kenny Miller will include him in the starting lineup. Abu Farhi is expected to support the team as long as the coach deems necessary.

Following the team's return to Israel later this week, Abu Farhi will finalize a contract with the Colorado Rapids in the United States. The deal guarantees him a gross salary of $800,000 in his first season, with a 10 percent increase in each of the subsequent two seasons. Maccabi Tel Aviv and the Rapids have agreed on all contract terms, including a $6 million transfer fee, an additional $1 million in bonuses, and 20 percent of any future transfer fee outside Major League Soccer.

While Abu Farhi will initially play for Colorado Rapids, the club plans to sell him later to a European team for a significantly higher fee, from which Maccabi Tel Aviv will also benefit. Abu Farhi is expected to travel to the U.S. next week, though it remains unclear whether his medical examinations will take place there or in Israel, similar to the process followed by Dor Turgeman previously.
