Israeli Family Clashes With Tuk-Tuk Driver in Phuket, Stirring Social Media Outcry

A confrontation between an Israeli family and a tuk-tuk driver in Phuket, Thailand, has sparked significant attention on social media and local news outlets. The incident began when the family requested the driver to confirm the fare for a ride, but they failed to agree on a price. The driver then waited for other passengers.

Later, an Australian tourist couple arrived and booked a ride to Bangla area. The Israeli family reportedly asked to join the ride, but the driver refused and directed them to another nearby tuk-tuk. According to the driver, the family tried to block the Australian couple from leaving, prompting him to intervene to protect his passengers.

A video released by the driver shows five family members standing beside the tuk-tuk, with one repeatedly insulting the driver in English and Hebrew, calling him "you scum," and spitting on the road. The driver stated he refused to transport passengers behaving this way and left the scene. He also claimed he received threats and that one family member attempted to lift a heavy concrete slab nearby, though no physical attack occurred.

The driver shared the video to condemn the family's behavior, which he deemed inappropriate for tourist sites in Thailand. There has been no response from the Israeli family, nor reports of police complaints or involvement of tourism authorities at this time.
