Iran Issues New Threats After Israeli Strikes in Beirut
Following Israeli Air Force strikes in Beirut’s Dahiyeh district, Iranian officials continued to issue threats against Israel. The commander of the central headquarters of Khatam al-Anbiya said on Sunday that “the crimes of the Zionist entity will not go unanswered.”
Shortly before that, Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesman for the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, sent a sharp warning to Israel and cautioned against what he called a “miscalculation” in dealing with it. The remarks came as tensions rose over Israel’s strikes on Hezbollah targets in Beirut.
According to the report, the Israeli attack followed rocket fire toward Israel and continued violations by Hezbollah. It also came about a week after Israel’s political leadership made clear that any fire from Lebanese territory would be met with strikes on targets in Lebanon’s capital.
