Iran Warns Beirut Strike Could Undermine Talks With the U.S.
An Iranian parliamentary spokesman warned on Sunday that Israel’s strike in Beirut’s Dahieh district could jeopardize efforts to reach an agreement with the United States. Ibrahim Rezaei, spokesman for the Iranian parliament’s foreign affairs and security committee, said the attack should not be misread and could affect negotiations or understandings with Washington.
Rezaei said, “We must not fall into the mistake of misjudging the situation. Even if you want to reach an agreement or any understandings, the way to that goes through restraining the Zionist regime.” He added, “If we do not succeed in restraining this raging dog, it will bite us in the leg before the ink on the agreement or understandings has even dried.”
The comments came in response to the Israeli strike in Beirut’s Dahieh neighborhood, which Iranian officials are presenting as a wider regional warning. The article said more details were expected later.
