Israel Braces for Possible Iranian Response After Beirut Suburb Strike
Israeli forces struck strategic Hezbollah targets in Beirut’s Dahieh district on Sunday, after what Israel described as violations of the ceasefire by the group. The operation also included targeted strikes in several villages in southern Lebanon. Israeli security officials now say they are preparing for the possibility that Iran could intervene and launch another attack on Israel.
Security sources who spoke with N12 said the option of an Iranian response was discussed in the preparations before the strike. One source said, “We saw how the Iranians responded last time, and we took that into account. We are ready for all possibilities.”
N12 also reported that the Israel Defense Forces informed U.S. Central Command shortly before the Beirut strike, according to senior Israeli and American officials. The move comes amid rising concern that the confrontation could widen beyond Hezbollah.
At the same time, Iranian-linked channels issued threats. The Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters warned that the “crimes of the Zionist entity in Dahieh will not go unanswered,” while accounts close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said, “Within a few hours, the skies of the Jews will again be filled with a rain of missiles.”
