Jerusalem Court Orders Immediate Release of Administrative Detainee Tal Yinon Dardik After 38 Days

Tal Yinon Dardik was released immediately today by the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court after spending 38 days in administrative detention. The decision was made by Judge Amir Shaked, who accepted the petition submitted by Dardik's lawyers from the Honenu organization, ordering his release without any conditions. Dardik had been detained under an administrative order issued by Central Command Chief Avi Blot. During his detention, Dardik conducted a 38-day hunger strike protesting the order and his continued imprisonment.

Dardik was represented by attorneys Moshe Polsky, Nati Rom, and Daniel Shimshilashvili from Honenu. Nati Rom welcomed the ruling, stating that their defense claims were accepted from the outset and that the administrative order was "unenforceable" and issued without proper authority. Rom emphasized that the ruling implies no violation of the order occurred and that Dardik's detention was unjustified. He expressed hope that judicial decisions would now be respected and that Dardik could rebuild his life and family.

Moshe Polsky added that Dardik's release was long overdue, reiterating that the administrative order lacked legal basis. Honenu sharply criticized the use of administrative detention orders against settlers, calling Dardik's order and others "a black flag on the Central Command chief and his superiors." The organization called on the Central Command chief and the Defense Ministry to cancel all such orders against settlers immediately. The police agreed to Dardik's immediate release, though broader disputes over administrative detention policies remain unresolved.
