Bnei Akiva Yeshiva and Givat Shmuel Municipality Clash Over Funding and Building Dispute

The Bnei Akiva Yeshiva Center responded sharply to statements by Givat Shmuel Mayor Yossi Brodny regarding an ongoing dispute over the yeshiva's operations and real estate in the city. The center rejected Brodny's allegations related to real estate and construction, accusing the municipality of unilaterally canceling a binding agreement and halting funds intended for the yeshiva's activities.

Earlier, Mayor Brodny clarified that the conflict was not with the yeshiva's head, Rabbi Shraga Prochter, or the educational staff. He emphasized the municipality's historical financial support and efforts to reduce fees for parents. Brodny claimed the municipality discovered a plan to build two nine-story buildings and a commercial center on the yeshiva's site, accusing the yeshiva center of prioritizing real estate and money over education. He stated the municipality canceled the agreement due to alleged breaches, with the dispute now in court.

In response, the Bnei Akiva Center highlighted the yeshiva's status as one of Israel's leading high schools under Rabbi Prochter's leadership, noting its significant educational achievements. The center asserted the municipality's cancellation of the agreement and funding cuts were unilateral and harmful to students, while the center continued investing its own resources to prepare for the school year. They dismissed Brodny's real estate claims as unrelated to the core dispute and pledged to resolve them legally.

The center called for renewed dialogue, urging the mayor to respect the binding agreement and prioritize the welfare of Givat Shmuel's students over other disagreements.
