Kailer Edwards Set to Join Chinese Basketball League, Not Maccabi Tel Aviv

Kailer Edwards, a 27-year-old guard who has been linked with Maccabi Tel Aviv, is reportedly set to play in China for the Liaoning Flying Leopards. Edwards will join the team coached by Spanish coach Hugo Lopez and play alongside former Hapoel Tel Aviv player Dez Wells. Edwards arrived in Israel two years ago, initially signing with Elitzur Netanya, where he was a standout player despite the team's relegation. He then moved to Hapoel Emek, maintaining strong performance with averages of 18.8 points, 3.4 assists, and 4 rebounds per game during the regular season. His best game was against Maccabi Tel Aviv in round 19, scoring 39 points.

Edwards was expected to transfer to Villeurbanne, coached by Tony Parker, but financial issues prevented the move. He was also considered a top candidate for Maccabi Tel Aviv, but after the signing of Keaton Wallace, Maccabi announced their roster was closed. Eric Stillman noted on social media that the Maccabi coaching staff wanted to sign Edwards but the budget was exhausted. Edwards' move to China marks a new chapter in his career after strong performances in the Israeli league.
